About Me

We are a very busy family. I'm a military wife to a wonderful husband. Our 3 boys keep us on our toes. Our oldest is a pre-teen.. Yikes! Our middle son can be terror on wheels one second then wanting to cuddle the next, and the baby, well time will tell with him. Enjoy, laugh, cry, and join our family in the attempt to keep up with everything without totally losing it :)

It's not up to me, it's up to my baby!

I recently read this article in American Baby Magazine. Really, 6 months?!! Come on! It is articles like these that makes moms not even want to try to breastfeed, to not even put in the effort. "At some point, though, you'll be ready to stop", the article said. I don't believe it's up to you. It's up to your baby! If he/she is ready at 6 months than great, but are you gonna sit there and tell me that when my baby is 6 months I have to stop nursing? I DON'T THINK SO! There is such a stigma these days when it comes to breasts. So many people don't see them as what they are really intended for but as a sexual thing. This seriously needs to change! Going to the park, the mall, or wherever I go, and my baby gets hungry, I'm going to feed him. I just can't understand why people get so offended, especially when I'm not showing anymore skin than someone wearing a low cut blouse. You wouldn't be offended if it was the bottle, would you. So what's the difference? I understand that the AAP recommends that you breastfeed for at least 6 months, but they DO NOT tell you to stop/wean then. This article is. I got really offended by this and just had to share!

Playtex Petite Double Electric Breast Pump Review

Playtex Petite Double Breast Pump Review

I'm gonna start out by saying... I love this pump! It's compact, quiet, comfortable, and best of all, it's not too pricey. You can find it at WalMart for around $75 I believe. I pump once daily so I can have milk on hand so the hubby can feed Carson too, which he really enjoys. It's a great bonding experience for them too.
The pump comes with the Pump Unit, AC adapter, a Y connector with tubing, a 4 piece Breast Cup assembly, 3 valves, 2 bottles, 2 nipples with lids, and 10 drop in liners. It is super easy to clean because it only has 4 parts (The soft comfort Breast cup, Breast cup holder, Breast cup base, and a pump valve). That's it! I would really recommend this pump for those who don't pump all the time and want something more compact. I have seen that you can purchase a car adapter for it, but I don't have one.
I had an older Medela pump that I used with Matthew a few years ago, but it just wasn't working as great this time around but I still had ALOT of pumping bottles from it. The awesome thing about this Playtex pump is that it not only fits the Playtex drop-in bottles it comes with but it fits the smaller Medela bottles that I already had. I love that!

Just taking it all in...

After the laundry was folded, the baby fed and changed, and something was set out for dinner, I finally had a little time to just sit on the couch and relax. My oldest is on his way to Arizona so it's just me and the little ones tonight. Matthew was sitting next to me playing his DS, giggling uncontrollably, and Carson was sitting in my lap. He's at that stage where you can look at him and make a face and he'll smile. So precious!

I then got up, with Carson still content in my arms, to make some juice. As I'm looking in the pantry I found myself kissing, and smelling, the top of Carson's head. Suddenly I found myself forgetting what I was in the pantry for LOL. His head smells so sweet and with every sniff it sends a sense of calm over my whole body. Ya I know, weird, but it's true. I then peeked around the corner only to see Matthew sprawled out on the couch with his game realizing how incredibly blessed I am. For years of being told that I would not be able to carry a child, and having 2 miscarriages, here I stand just taking in my sweet boys.

Gotta let go!

TJ, our oldest, is finally 12! It seems like just yesterday he was learning to walk and talk. Now he's interested in games, friends, and girls. Yes girls! The cootie stage is long gone. It is so bittersweet just to sit back and watch him when he's around his friends and the girl he's sweet for. He's such a little man.
Tomorrow he leaves for his first summer vacation without his parents or grandparents. He is flying to Arizona to spend a few weeks with his uncle, aunt, and cousins. They was invited to go on vacation with them to Seattle then up to Canada. He is so excited, but in a cool way LOL.
